Sedation Dentistry – Kingwood, TX

Sit Back, Relax,
& Smile

Everyone needs to go to the dentist from time to time to maintain their oral health, but many avoid even routine procedures because of fear or trauma connected to negative past experiences. Fortunately, Dr. Mosby is able to help all types of patients enjoy calm and cool appointments thanks to sedation dentistry. Using the methods detailed below, he can soothe racing minds and prevent physical discomfort at the same time, making it easier than ever for people to get the care they deserve.

Why Choose Kingwood Family Dentistry for Sedation Dentistry?

Oral Conscious Sedation

Oral conscious sedation is designed to help a patient feel relaxed even before they step into our office. Dr. Mosby will prescribe someone a pill to take at home the day of their appointment, so by the time they actually sit in the dental chair, their nerves will be long gone. Because of the strength of OCS, it’s required that a patient have someone drive them to and from our office the day of their treatment.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation

This method combines nitrous oxide (“laughing gas”) and oxygen to help patients quickly feel warm, calm, and slightly numb all over during their appointment. The gas is administered via a small nasal mask, and the amount of nitrous oxide a patient is exposed to can be adjusted based on their comfort level. Fast acting and fast to go away, this approach enables patients to get what they need and then go straight back to their day without any lasting side effects.

IV Sedation

IV sedation is the most potent type we offer, so we typically recommend it for patients with extreme dental fear or those who require a lengthy/complicated procedure. It can also be a big help for those with special needs or patients who have physical issues that make sitting for long periods uncomfortable. The sedative is administered by a licensed anesthesiologist through a tiny injection in the hand or arm, and almost instantly, a patient will fall into a deep state of relaxation.
