How the Dental Implant Process Works

For patients who choose dental implant insertion, the process starts with preparatory work, which may include restorative care to ensure the oral health is in-tact. Then, 3D scans are captured that will be used to create a custom reconstruction plan.

After the preliminary work is done, the implant is surgically-inserted by one of our trusted dental partners, and the surrounding tissue is allowed to heal over a period of three or more months. During this time, the implant will also fuse with the underlying bone through a process called osseointegration.

The next step is for the abutment’s placement, which is a titanium piece that allows Dr. Mosby to attach a final restoration, which can be an implant-retained crown, bridge, partial denture or full set of dentures.
